Review

Does the word marijuana sound more like an illegal substance than a therapeutic option? After reading The Medical Marijuana Guide, your answer will no longer be yes. Patricia Frye explains the origins of why marijuana has been systematically vilified, how marijuana interacts within our own biologic systems, and how you as a patient can use this book as a resource to help understand that marijuana can be a part of a successful health care plan. Frye shares her medical marijuana experiences by using actual patient stories, recipes, tips and tricks in an easy-to-read format. I highly recommend this eye-opening learning experience and Brava! to Patricia Frye for taking on this outstanding educational initiative. (Debra Kimless, MD, Medical Director, ForwardGro, and all around patient ombudsman)Medical marijuana can be a confusing, political hot-button issue. This book by a practicing physician shows how it can help improve a patient's quality of life regardless of party affiliation. (Congresswoman Barbara Lee)

My relative sees this doctor, who is a pediatrician in MD and is very knowledgeable. The book looks great and I bought the paperback not the Audio so I could share it. My only concern is that the font in the paperback is very small and I can’t read it without straining (I don’t need reading glasses for anything else). So I have only flipped through it briefly

I reviewed this book, then deleted the review. I'm back again to say that though it has worthwhile things in it, it is essentially a too broad, too thin, introductory guide. I wasn't cheated, but I was ultimately disappointed.

I work in a medical marijuana certification clinic and I love this book! I bought one for all my doctors and co-workers. It has great information and cites research studies! Quick and easy read for people looking for information on the benefits of Medical Marijuana.

I found this to be a very informative book. Much more so than what I have researched on the internet. The author gives pros, cons, and things I have that would make me rethink whether this is the way to go. A God given plant compared to a chemical that is man made? Easy choice, I think.Having Rheumatoid Arthritis, a total knee replacement, a total shoulder replacement, anxiety, and depression... I really would like to see if it would help me. Florida drug laws have changed so much since July 1, 2018, it's horrible. They send you home from a knee replacement with 7 days of pain meds. It hurts the people who honestly need the pain meds and that isn't right. My primary care doctor says I would qualify but I'm still in the process of making my decision. Lots of my questions were answered in this book and it's one that I highly recommend if you are in the same situation as I am.* I was provided an ARC to read from the publisher and NetGalley. It was my decision to read and review this book..

As a text book this works as a book anyone would pick up and read I find it a little difficult at times. The author is well informed and gives the pros and cons to this form of medication. They do not tell you to use it without making sure you as a consumer are well informed. The author talks about legal allegations, the political side effect and you can tell by the passion they want this to become more main stream with the guidance of professionals.Did she convince me? I am still on the fence due to lack of evidence on long term use on teens though adulthood with mental disorders. The review will becomes more personal and opinionated from this point on. (Just a Warning)I have seen the effect of Medical Marijuana though friends who couldn't find relief from though chemical medication. I have seen others who have gone though the process of getting their card and found it was more expensive than conventional medication and found no relief and worse side effects then chemical mediation.I think everyone has the right to make the decision of their mental and physical health with the proper guide of medical professionals. I think there are benefits to the use of Medically guided Marijuana when it is handled professionally and not handed out like gummy bears. (Which has helped a friend of mine out with her ADHD and mood swings.)I do see Marijuana as a gateway drug if not taken though the guidance of a medical professional that is able to help those needing relief from pain, anxiety, Adhd and more.Have I looked into using Medical Marijuana for my Anxiety and ADHD? Yes but the cost is more than all of my chemical medications and drs visit put together. This was wonderful information and insight into a very misunderstood medical Marijuana.Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher Rowman & Littlefield Publishers for a chance to review Patricia C Frye, MD, Dave Smitherman The Medical Marijuana Guide: Cannabis and Your Health

This was the best book on Medical Marijuana I have read. Very informative. A must read for anyone with chronic pain or illness that prescription medication has not been able to help. Patricia Frye MD gives very specific information on treating chronic pain with cannabis.I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book courtesy of NetGalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Dr. Fyre presents her information in a format that highly informative but also easy to understand. This is a great resource for new medical patients or those wanting to learn about medical cannabis for the first time. Likewise, it is also an good read for scientists, doctors, patients, and community members wanting to enhance their understanding of the medical science of cannabis. I would definitely recommend her book to all!

After reading several books about Cannabis, this one by far was the easiest to read and understand. As a dispensary agent it has helped me to better understand the plant and be able to provide even better recommendations. Anyone interested in knowing more about cannabis needs to read this book!
