Ambrosia lives in NY and works for a company she likes. But then the company is bought by Chase Jett, her childhood enemy and the one who made her leave her hometown 10 years ago.Growing up with her two older brothers and their best friend Chase 'Bro' learned to defend herself against their pranks. She gave as good as she got. Until one day Chase and Bro get involved in an incident which leaves Bro kicked out of Vassar before even starting and humiliated. So when she finds he is her new boss she is fuming. Unfortunately, they keep getting into various sexual situations and the stakes are much higher now.The book is filled with bantering and sex and - even though I liked the story - it sometimes felt like a rollercoaster. They fight, have sex, fight, have sex. They could have toned down on all the embarrassing situations. For me it was a bit too much. They felt like actors in an over the top comedy. And I would like a bit more emotion and romance.
Glitter Bombs? Check. Canned Bologna? Check. Two outrageously large musclebound hockey players? Check. Elevator Sex, hurled insults, bok choy campaigns, Bratwurst wagons and so much more. This book is amazing in all the best ways. How long can you hold a grudge against someone who screwed up your college plans, your reputation and your future in one misguided teen moment? The answer is a Really. Long. Time.Ambrosia Berger is the social media manager at organic grocery store chain, Crunchy. That is, until, billionaire, former cherry-popper, and long time nemesis Chase Jett takes it over. Sia to her friends (except Chase, who annoyingly still calls her Bro) refuses to kowtow to Chase, even if he is 6 feet something of delicious, lickable man. They have a past and they hate each other (well, mostly) and they're determined to display that dislike every chance they get (well, except for those times when they're screwing- in elevators, on KissCams, and in other inappropriate and usually incredibly public, places). With some interference from Sia's two NHL playing, hunk brothers (formerly Chase's best friends), her Boy-Band groupmates, two meddling mothers, and a large majority of the public eye, somehow Chase and Sia come to realize that what they really hate, is hating each other. This debut book from author Pippa Grant is jam-packed with funny one-liners, hilarious digs, wit, sarcasm, lots of hot sexy times and an ending as sweet as the dairy-free, vegan cocoa nib hot chocolate from Crunchy's snack bar.
Honestly this book perplexed me, I kept reading it hoping it would get better and I was slightly interested in the outcome, but it just never got better. Chase and Ambrosia are supposed to be in their mid to late twenties, yet talk and act like immature teenagers. I felt that their 'hate/passion/dramatic back story' was overly contrived and eventually exhausting - I forced myself to finish only because I had already read so much of it. Additionally, the portrayal of Ambrosia's brothers was unnecessarily stereotypical of the 'womanizing dumb athlete'. The only truly puzzling outcome of reading this book is that I find myself interested in the next book in the series because the teaser at the end caught my interest. Whether I actually decide to read book 2 is still undevided.
I read over 250 books a year and had already finished my limit of a book in a day when I saw that one of my favorite authors, Lucy Score, recommend the debut novel, Mister McHottie on her reader facebook page. She said it was one of the funniest books she has read, and after reading it, I couldn’t agree more. I clicked to purchase it right away and couldn’t put it down! Housework be damned! Pippa Grant did an awesome job and I can’t wait to read the sequels. I never met Pippa, but would love to be her friend in real life! Her book was so clever and witty, and I really felt the strong connection, anger, hate, love, and lust between Chase and Ambrosia. I was really pleased with the happy ending, and I can’t wait to read the bonus chapters! A+++++
Chase Jett has worked his butt off to get where he is today and his latest acquisition turns his life upside down.Ambrosia Berger's life hasn't gone exactly as planned but after all that, she's happy where her life has ended up.These two used to be friends, of sorts, before that one night many years ago that rips it to shreds. But now that fate has brought them back together, can they work through the bumps of the past and embrace a future? Or will their past be just too much to overcome?Mister McHottie is a laugh a minute from start to finish. I was captivated right from the start and didn't want to let it go once I reached the end.I love Ambrosia and her pack of friends, they are one seriously amazing group of friends. They have each other's back through thick and thin.Bro is a brilliant, sassy, and hilarious. Despite the sit back right after high school, she didn't let that get her down. She dusted herself off and persevered.Chase is hot, hot, hot. The hottest thing to love about Chase is he's determination to keep Bro in his life. But seriously, he's got a heart of gold that will make you swoon. The dynamic between Bro and Chase is intense and sizzles right off the pages. Their fighting is sensational, I loved it. Their connection between the two is just as strong despite their prolonged separation.Mister McHottie is fun, witty, saucy read that is brilliantly written with a remarkable storyline. The chemistry between Bro and Chase will fascinate the reader. The secondary cast of characters will keep you in stitches. As a debut release, this one hits it out of the park and I look forward to what Pippa will bring us next.
