I first learned about Carson Tate from a Harvard Business Review tweet. I really, really wanted to love this book. But I just like it. The strengths of this book include:*A friendly and encouraging writing style/voice.*The productivity style assessment that you take to determine what your work/productivity preferences mean. This was interesting and accurately captured my preferences.*Tailored advice by different productivity styles. This is a unique approach to productivity that I haven't seen. Certain Myers-Briggs Type Indicator reference books have work-style information, but rarely include advice on how to leverage your style and which tools (notebooks, office supplies, software) would work best for you. This information is valuable, and worth the price of the book. The weakness are:*Much content taken from David Allen's "Getting Things Done". I mean, a lot of the ideas and approaches from GTD are restated here. For example the email approach (do it, defer it, delegate it), clearing your mind (Mindsweep in GTD lingo), and that your mind is for having ideas, not holding them.*Some recycled ideas that I have read in Julie Morgenstern's work "Time Management from the Inside Out".*Some tips are pretty junior-level for people who have read about or worked with other productivities models.

I love this book! I have been sharing parts of it with my team and work and comparing our productivity styles to get a better idea of how we can all work together. The book has an assessment tool and scoring to find out what your style is, and then contains an immeasurable amount of info about each style to help you figure out what is most efficient for you and also what works best for your team members. The practical charts show the strengths of each still and lists what you bring to the team. The only thing we found was that how our scores came out on the assessment didn't perfectly match the descriptions that we thought applied best to us. We found reading the descriptions helped us better figure out who we were. I would advise readers not to reply with a neutral response to any questions. I had far too many threes, which made me seem like all four types. I re-took the test and used strong responses. This helped a lot. I think words like "always" and "never" in the criteria threw us off from answering with one or five on the responses. One thing I like about the book is that it is up-to-date and when it talks about productivity tools that work for each style, they are ones that are on the market right now, and some that we use in our office at work. This made the application of the content so relevant.I like the narrative style and the author's practical examples from life. I originally got the book from the library, but loved it so much that I purchased it to read again and to use with my work team. I rarely give 5-star book reviews, so that tells you how much I liked what Carson Tate wrote. I felt like she totally gets it, and I will be following her blog.

This is one of those books you probably won't sit down, read, shut and say Tah Dah...I know what to do now! If you so, you probably didn't need to read it in the first place. For the rest of us mere mortals who have tried umpteen organizational systems looking for the Holy Grail of time management, my best advice is...skim through the book, go back and read one chapter, implement a strategy or two and repeat until you make it through the whole book.As someone with the superpower of, as the nice therapist lady said "off-the-charts-ADHD", I have implemented many of her strategies successfully. One at a time has worked for me, with an eye on the golden ring of smiling at the end of each workday, rather than sobbing hot tears of frustration into my keyboard as I wail, "I can't go any faster, I'll never finish this...." Not that I have ever done that...Get the book, sign up for her newsletter, give her style a shot! Hopefully it will click for you and help a bit. And that is all I ask for in a productivity type book...a few nuggets that help, not to wake up as a born-again chill organized person.

After reading only the first few chapters, I'm already working differently and more productively... or at least, in a way that makes me feel less resistant to the productivity. I scored as a Prioritizer and a Visualizer, but I know that I tend to rely more heavily on the first style. Embracing my inner Visualizer has helped clear my head and allowed both of my styles to work together. It's like this book unlocked creativity I didn't know I had. I can't wait to see what I'll be doing when I actually finish the rest of the book!

I really liked Tate's approach with "Work Simply" - the test to determine your own productivity style was dead-on and I was able to use the book to work with my team to help them understand their own work styles as well as those of the people they work with everyday. Her practical, simple approaches to help you think about the best way to work productively based on your own productivity style was very helpful.

This is an easy to read book. I start applying some of the ideas within days after receiving the book. It has 15 easy to read chapters that do not have to implemented one after another. For example, my inbox was getting out of hand---Chapter 9 Tame Your Inbox helped me get better control which gain me time to do other things.

So appreciate Carson's unique approach to Working Simply. I really needed to understand more clearly how to leverage my personal style to get things done with less struggle and frustration. The layout of the book acts as a roadmap that I can pick up just when I need a certain tool or productivity booster. I also appreciate how it can help me with other diverse personal styles and how I can get things done preventing unnecessary irritation. A must read for any leader who wants to upgrade their effectiveness.

Full of practical tipsWhile reading the book, I was able to implement some of her time saving tips immediately. Can't wait to try more.
